Agniveer Compensation Package Overview
The Agnipath scheme offers a highly attractive, structured financial package to all recruits. This compensation is designed to secure the financial future of the Agniveers, whether they remain in active military service or transition to the civilian workforce after four years. The package includes a monthly salary, life insurance, and a substantial tax-free payout at the end of their tenure.
Year-wise Salary Structure
The basic monthly package starts at Rs. 30,000 in the first year, with a guaranteed increment each year. The breakdown is as follows:
- 1st Year: Rs. 30,000 per month (In-hand: Rs. 21,000; Contribution to Seva Nidhi: Rs. 9,000).
- 2nd Year: Rs. 33,000 per month (In-hand: Rs. 23,100; Contribution to Seva Nidhi: Rs. 9,900).
- 3rd Year: Rs. 36,500 per month (In-hand: Rs. 25,550; Contribution to Seva Nidhi: Rs. 10,950).
- 4th Year: Rs. 40,000 per month (In-hand: Rs. 28,000; Contribution to Seva Nidhi: Rs. 12,000).
The government contributes an equal amount to the Seva Nidhi Corpus fund monthly, ensuring that a significant pool of savings is accumulated for the recruit.
Seva Nidhi Package and Life Insurance
Upon completing four years of service, Agniveers receive the Seva Nidhi package, which totals approximately Rs. 11.71 Lakhs (including interest), completely tax-free. Additionally, they are provided with a non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs. 48 Lakhs for the duration of their service. For those transitioning to civilian careers, the government provides skill certificates and business loans under credit schemes. Up to 25% of the recruits will be absorbed into the regular cadre as permanent soldiers, continuing their career in the armed forces.
